Collaborative work with a number of concrete pilot projects and associated partners included analysing and merging academic workflows from a variety of communities and a variety of relevant techniques. The aim was to secure the greatest possible technological and academic transferability and scalability.
Both individual projects and institutions were included as pilot users in the development and evaluation of the programme. On the one hand, these contributed unique perspectives afforded by their respective disciplines – i.e. their background work developing a specialist media-based body of knowledge, context-related metadata records for objects and their experience in compiling publications – while at the same time furnishing relevant repositories – the development of user potential and new publication services, increasing the attractiveness of materials, qualitative enhancement of metadata, clarification of technical, legal and organisational issues.
